A truly stupendous plant!
There are a few different inula, all have merit, but this one is absolutely beautiful. It is a very tough perennial, thriving on our cold windy and wet site and gently expanding its spread each season. The leaves are huge so it outcompetes weeds easily. The golden yellow flowers are in large sprays held on dense sturdy stems towering above the leaves at 1.5 metres. They last well once cut and provide real presence. One the flowers are over, the stems retain pale gold decorative discs (shaped a bit like a mushroom) all winter.
I grew my original plants from seed and they’ve repaid the very minor investment hundreds of times over.
