This has a lovely long sprays of rich reddy-pink flowers on strong stems. It’s the original wild sibling of the blue and pink chinese forget-me-not and has been overlooked I think. It’s a true biennial, so makes leaf one season, and flowers the next before setting seed and dying off. The seed is the stickiest velcro and very uncomfortable if it works its way into your clothes!
Sow the seed when you receive it, if you can. It may take a little while to emerge, and might wait until spring. The plants have big leaves and take up space. They die back in winter and then grow new leaves in spring, followed by the flowers.
