Marsh Woundwort (Stachys palustris)

£3.50

A dainty spire of dusky pink flowers. It’ took me a couple of years to figure out what this plant actually was. March Woundwort isn’t a traditional cut flower, but it is a good one. It’s easy to grow, perennial, and also great for pollinators. As the name suggests, it likes a march or bog, but also tolerates normal garden soil. It doesn’t need any particular care and lasts well in a vase or arrangement.

The name also suggests uses beyond cut flowers, in healing wounds. It’s a perennial and forms a white tuber under ground which is apparently edible. There’s also a Hedge Woundwort, which is similar but has a darker flower.

Height 70cm

Spread 30cm

Quantity 0.2g/approx 100 seeds
